Food care company Norish announced today that its pre-tax profits were down from £2.32 million sterling in 1999 to £2.02 million sterling for the year ended December 31, 2000.
Over capacity in the UK cold storage industry continued to depress demand for the company's temperature-controlled services, Norish said in a statement. The statement added that the company had performed well in difficult circumstances.
Basic earnings per share were 17.6 pence sterling compared with 19.1 pence in 1999. Adjusted earnings per share amount to 16.6 pence sterling compared with 1999's figure of 18.3 pence.
Norish said that during the year it had acquired a cold storage company in Kent and an ambient warehousing business in York for a total expenditure of £0.8 million sterling.
