Supermarket chain Superquinn is to build an £18 million distribution centre in Blanchardstown Co. Dublin, where it will centralise the storage and distribution of all chilled products.
The new plant will create 250 jobs, and reduce Superquinn's deliveries from 400,000 anually to under 100,000.
It is expected Superquinn's biggest supppliers will move to the new system in Septrember 2001 with the service fully operational by May 2002.
The distribution centre will be managed by Wincanton Logistics, a specialist in providing this service in Britain.
