ISE launches new electronic shareholding system

The Irish Stock Exchange has taken another step towards facilitating online trading by launching a new electronic way for private investors to hold shares, called CREST Personal Membership.

The exchange says the system will enable share deals to be processed more quickly and easily. Private investors will be able to set up the new accounts through stockbrokers.

The ISE also announced today that the settlement period for equities and debt traded will be reduced from five days after the trade date to three from Monday.
