British mortgage bank, which has moved into the Irish savings market, says its share of the mortgage market leapt to 6.5% from 4.1% in 1999.
Northern Rock was posting full-year results, including a 16% rise to £250.1m sterling in pre-tax profits in 2000.
The company said its Irish arm had performed in line with expectations, with balances of £216m sterling at the end of the year. This represents a more than 1% share of the Irish deposit market.
