Jobs boost for Waterford and Kilkenny

The South-East region received good news today with the announcement of 255 new jobs for the area by three IDA-supported investments.

The Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Harney, said that Sun Life Information Services Ireland Ltd will create 200 new jobs and Adam will create 30 jobs in Waterford city. 25 new jobs will also be created in FileFlow in Kilkenny.

The latest jobs announcement follows the news that PFPC International is set to employ over 200 people in Wexford when its new Financial Services Centre is fully operational.

The 200 Sun Life Information Services Ireland Ltd jobs will come on line over the next four years with the establishment of a Business Support Centre, which will be a key element in supporting the company's growing business in the US. The company is a member of the Sun Life Financial of Canada Group and already has an Information Technology Services Centre in Waterford.

German company Adam has announced 30 new jobs for highly skilled graphic design and computer people at its new Graphic Design Centre in Waterford. The choice of the city was directly related to the availability of suitably qualified graduates from the Institute of Technology there.

The Kilkenny city project is being established by Norwegian company FileFlow, a leading developer and marketer of electronic Media Asset Management Systems. The company is setting up a Product Customisation Centre that will create 25 new high quality software and project management jobs.

Today's jobs announcements follow the news yesterday that California-based software company Salesforce.com is setting up its European headquarters in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow, creating 50 new jobs there. Over 140 jobs are promised for Belfast with the establishment of the North's first multi-lingual call centre by Taiwanese computer company Acer. And 29 new jobs are set to be created in Galway in a new telecommunications software company, Am-beo.
