Irish based pharmaceutical group Elan Corporation has been placed top of the class by the Forbes Global magazine in its A-list of top 400 companies. Elan is rated the "A-Plus" company in the list, which puts it as the number one firm in its sector.
In the accompanying profile, Forbes said that Elan's revenues have grown by an average 49% over the past five years.
Describing the firm as the market leader in drug delivery technology, Forbes said that the firm is transforming into an integrated pharmaceutical company by developing drugs in neurology, oncology and pain management.
Elan Chairman and Chief Executive Donal Geaney described the award as "gratifying", saying that it reflects the underlying strength of Elan's pharmaceutical and drug delivery businesses".
