IAWS shares up 2% on US acquisition rumour

IAWS shares have risen 2% this morning to 7.30 euros after the Irish Times reported that the company is in talks with US group Orion Food Systems, with a £50 million plus bid possible after the New Year.

An IAWS spokesperson said this morning that the company was always looking at potential US acquisitions but had no specific comment on this deal.

The takeover would allow IAWS, which is rolling out its Cuisine de France bread and conveniance stores in the US, to broaden its US foothold.

Orion, based in Michigan, had sales of $102 million last year and employs 750 people.
