Two people have died in separate single-car collisions in Co Tipperary.

A man in his 40s died after a single-car collision in Birdhill early this morning.

The sole occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The coroner has also been notified.

The R445 remains closed for forensic examination with diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling in the area between 10pm yesterday and 8am this morning are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.

Separately, a woman in her 80s has died following a single-car collision in Nenagh.

It happened between midnight and 2.20am in Toomevara.

The sole occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The coroner has been notified and the road remains closed for forensic examination.

Traffic diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling in the area between midnight and 2.30am are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
