In today's Full Score, hear a nativity oratorio with lyrics by John Adams and Peter Sellars cobbled together from religious texts and poems. The result is a new telling of an old story mostly from the perspective of the Virgin Mary. The 2001 recording we hear this evening, featuring soprano Dawn Upshaw and the late mezzo-soprano Lorraine Hunt-Lieberson, came out to rave reviews.

Anúna in concert. On our programme today Michael Lee presents a recent concert by Anúna, recorded as part of the Francis Ledwidge Centenary Celebrations.
"When I discovered Ledwidge for the first time through the academic work of Inchicore poet Liam O'Meara, it was like finding a kindred spirit" McGlynn says. Over the last two decades Michael McGlynn has taken Ledwidge's poetry around the world as Anúna has toured. Ledwidge remains one of McGlynn's greatest poetic inspirations and we will hear these compositions by Michael McGlynn performed by Anuna in this concert which was recorded in Richmond Barracks earlier this year.

Michael Lee presents this special programme where we join the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra for a sparkling programme of opera and seasonal favourites, featuring Veronica Dunne 2016 prizewinners Fatma Said and William Davenport. But, before that Jon Tolansky profiles the winner of the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition – Egyptian soprano Fatma Said.
The concert programme includes opera highlights from Massenet's Manon and Lehár's Giuditta, musical highlights from Bernstein's On the Town and West Side Story and a selection of seasonal orchestral and vocal music including the beautiful O Holy Night.

The concert features the premiere of a work commissioned by the OBC by Catalan composer Enric Palomar who has written a Requiem in homage to Enrique Morente by means of blending flamenco and classical music.
