Music for all Ages with Evelyn Grant and the RTÉ lyric fm quartet
March 30th – April 3rd 2020
This is an engaging and entertaining RTÉ lyric fm outreach programme of live music performances in education and community settings. The RTÉ lyric fm Quartet is led by RTÉ lyric fm presenter Evelyn Grant. The quartet is presenting 10 free concerts in County Galway. The programme will take place in primary and post primary schools, care homes, libraries and 3rd level institutions.

The RTÉ lyric fm quartet performed for thousands over the years at the Bloom Festival in the Phoenix Park and the National Ploughing Championships. They have presented outreach programmes for RTÉ lyric fm, in Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Westmeath, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Waterford, Cavan, Monaghan, Louth ,Meath, Donegal, Mayo, Galway, Kildare and Kerry.
All programmes are delivered within the concept of Life-Long Learning: Listen, Engage, Enjoy and the programmes are tailored to the individual settings. These outreach concerts are provided free as part of RTÉ's public service commitment.

For Leaving Certificate students, Tom Redmond presents a step-by-step guide to Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, highlighting key themes and sections, with excerpts, and concluding with a full performance by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. The internationally praised music educationalist and horn player Tom Redmond and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra guide students and teachers through a selection of set and selected choice works.
The programme features The Marriage of Figaro Overture (Mozart); Morning Mood, Anitra’s Dance and In the Hall of the Mountain King from Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 (Grieg); a movement from Winter, The Four Seasons (Vivaldi); Hoe down from Rodeo (Copland); The Imperial March from The Empire Strikes Back (John Williams) and The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra: Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Purcell (Britten).
