Inchicore has been named by Time Out magazine as one of the 38 coolest neighbourhoods in the world.

The Dublin 8 spot officially joins the likes of Stoneybatter and Phibsboro as one of the buzziest neighbourhoods in the country, according to the publication.

Inchicore, located over over the River Liffey and close to the Phoenix Park and the Irish Museum of Modern Art, has long ticked away as an interesting - if lesser known - hot spot.

With longstanding businesses like Rascal's Brewery and recent openings such as Tacos Lupillo namechecked by Time Out contributor Rory Cashin, it definitely lives up to the magazine's idea of a "vibey, walkable district".

Cashin's brief guide to the area also shouts out Richmond Barracks and Richmond Park, as well as Riggers cafe, 'old man' pub The Glen and Stillgarden Gin Distillery.*

It clocks in at a respectable no. 25 and joins other cities such as Osu in Accra, Ghana, Budapest's Palace District and Strathbungo in Glasgow, Scotland.

The top spot went to Notre-Dame-du-Mont in Marseille, France, which was celebrated for its "colourful cul-de-sacs, graffiti-covered alleyways, streets lined with plane trees and twisting staircases". In second place is Mers Sultan in Casablance, Morocco, followed by Pererenan in Bali, Indonesia.

Time Out is a travel and hospitality media group that highlights the best things to do in cities across the world. Founded in 1968 as a guide to London's buzziest enclaves, it has since grown to a global network of experts all sharing their insights into the places to visit.

The publication quizzed its "global network of on-the-ground experts", according to its website, to create the hefty list.
