Martin Crummy explores Dublin City for a weekend with his wife and two daughters.

Dublin in the summer offers a vibrant blend of culture, outdoor activities, and festivals but it can be somewhat daunting for families to consider it for a weekend break.

Is there enough to do for the kids? Where should stay? What will we do about the car?

The deal that The College Green hotel on offer, really stood out to us. It is a summer deal that children under 12 can stay and dine for free.

During our recent stay, we enjoyed dinner at Morelands Grill, where the kids dined for free as part of a special offer. The children's menu is impressive, featuring a variety of options such as burgers, crispy chicken goujons, classic fish and chips, and pasta served with either butter or red sauce.

To top off the meal, the chocolate brownies were a hit, making for a sweet ending to our dining experience.

The staff were really attentive and no special request was too special. Our youngest didn't fancy anything on the dessert menu, but did want some marshmallows and so appears a little tub. Perfect.

The dessert of choice for the six-year-old

There is lots to do with kids in Dublin and the central location of the hotel allows you to explore it all with ease.

You are just beside the excellent wax museum and Trinity College, and with the New York Poral, Spire and GPO within a very short walk. The Luas is also an option to get to these places and further afield like the zoo.
