The best hotels in Ireland have been revealed, including the country's top wedding hotel, city hotel and more.
The Virgin Media Business Gold Medal Awards winners were announced at a glitzy ceremony in The Galmont Hotel and Spa in Galway last night.
Now in its 34th year, the awards highlight the achievements of the hotel and catering sector across the country. The awards are decided by a judging panel of "respected industry experts from across the hospitality sectors", according to the awards' website.
The Europe Hotel & Resort in Co Kerry scooped the top prize on the night, being named Supreme Winner, while The Merrion Hotel in Dublin was named Ireland's Five Star Hotel.
Adare Manor in Co. Limerick took home the Gold Award for Ireland's Five Star Resort, as well as the award for Ireland's Five Star Chef of the Year for Chef Michael Tweedie who oversees the Michelin-starred Oak Room restaurant. Chef Meeran Manzoor of The Blue Haven in Kinsale was named Ireland's Chef of the Year.
When it came to foodie escapes, a number of awards were given out, including the gong for Ireland's Afternoon Tea Hotel, which went to The Westbury in Dublin. The Lodge at Ashford Castle, Co Mayo scooped the award for Ireland's Wine Experience, while the award for Ireland's Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant went to Ballynahinch Castle Hotel & Estate, Co Galway.
Castle Leslie Estate was named Ireland's Favourite Place To Stay, as voted for by the public.
