The Guinness Storehouse has been named Europe's Leading Tourist Attraction 2023 and Europe’s Leading Beer Tour Visitor Experience 2023 at the World Travel Awards.

The awards took place in Batumi, Georgia on Friday and saw the Dublin destination beat out competition from the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Buckingham Palace in London and more.

It last held the title of Europe's Leading Tourist Attraction in 2015. However, this is the second year in a row that it's been named Europe's Leading Beer Tour Visitor Experience, beating out Fuller's Brewery in England, The Heineken Experience in the Netherlands, and The Budweiser Budvar Brewery in the Czech Republic.

Now in its 30th year, the World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to "acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries", and feature a large amount of businesses in their nominations each year.

The awards highlight the best hotels and experiences across the world through its Grand Tour, made up of regional gala ceremonies held in each continent. The ceremonies are attended by industry experts and insiders, and the awards are voted for by qualified executives working within travel and tourism and tourists.

Categories cover everything from boutique and luxury hotels and distillery tours to travel agencies and tour operators.

Speaking about the award, Catherine Toolan, Managing Director, Diageo Irish Brand Homes, said: "We are absolutely delighted to accept both of these prestigious awards on behalf of the whole team at The Guinness Storehouse. We are honoured to be in the same company as such renowned tourist attractions from across Europe. This is fantastic recognition for Irish tourism, and for everyone at Home of Guinness, who create a world-class visitor experience and a warm Irish welcome for the thousands of people each day."

She added that the Guinness Storehouse has welcomed 1.4 million visitors from 165 countries in the past year.
