Patrick Dempsey shares final trip around Ireland to Instagram

From getting fitted for a Louis Copeland suit in Dublin to taking in the breath-taking scenes of the Powerscourt Estate in Wicklow, Patrick Dempsey has been working hard to showcase the best of Ireland to his 6.4 million Instagram fans.

As far as we know, the Grey's Anatomy star has yet to be paid by Tourism Ireland but we wouldn't be surprised if a deal was on the cards going by the actor's latest posts.

Wrapping his final scenes on Disney's Disenchanted in Enniskerry, the actor appeared to enjoy a final run around Ireland before heading home to the United States.

While locals have been awed by the small Wicklow town being transformed into a fairytale set, Dempsey seems to have been in awe of the country at large.

Since landing in May, the actor wasted no time in snapping some photos among the fields, donkeys and sheep, hair artfully dishevelled and pageboy hat always in tow.

Going by his photos of Dublin, Patrick 'McDreamy' Dempsey took a stroll up Killiney Hill, a trip to Colliemore Harbour in Dalkey, a visit to Oscar Wilde in Stephen's Green before getting fitted for a beautiful suit by one of the most country's most coveted designers, Louis Copeland, sharing a snap to his Instagram with the caption, "Great morning at Louis Copeland & sons!"

Shortly after that, he established himself as Hollywood's Most Desirable Man in an Aran Jumper – knocking Chris Evans from that pedestal after his appearance in 2019's Knives Out – sharing a photo of himself in an authentic Aran Jumper by Inis Meáin, the leading producer of traditional Irish fisherman's jumpers.

In the snap, featuring a truly content looking Dempsey, the star wrote, "I love being in Ireland and I'm having so much fun working on this film". And we really believe him. He chose the Cashmere Shawl Collar, which features an Aran cable crossover neck knit in a flecked cashmere and marino wool blend, and costs €528.

By the time his next update came – a photo of classic Irish chipper Leo Burdock's with the caption, "Bleeding deadly!!" – it was clear Dempsey had adopted the local jargon, too.

Outside of Dublin, the actor enjoyed a trip to the beautiful Powerscourt Estate in Co. Wicklow and a visit to Powerscourt Waterfall before taking in the scenic views of Inishmore in Galway, a road trip down the "Wild Atlantic highway", and a 'hike' up the Sugarloaf.

In a post on Instagram, the star shared a photo from atop Sugarloaf Mountain in Co. Wicklow, saying, "Climbed Sugarloaf. It has been calling me and today I answered! haha".

Just two days later, he added a moody black and white shot of Bray Head Cross, the viewpoint that greets all walkers and hikers that scale Bray Head.

Fitting in as many Irish experiences as possible ahead of his departure, the 55-year-old managed to find some Irish wolfhounds to pose with following a performance from Irish harpist Úna ní Fhlannagáin. At this stage, we wouldn't be surprised if a bowl of coddle and some Irish dancers were present at the time.

With this kind of endorsement, Dempsey is fast becoming the celebrity of the moment in Ireland, replacing Matt O'Damon as our number one fan.

He signed off from his trip to Dublin with a flying visit to Trinity College Dublin where he sat down for an interview with DU Law Soc – the society that awarded him its Praeses Elit, an award for individuals who "empower students in their everyday lives" before making a trip to see the Book of Kells.

From there he took in the scenic views of Glendalough before heading West to take in the majesty of the Aran Islands, visiting Inis Meáin while looking like a Fáilte Ireland model.

Cniotáil Inis Meáin Teo shared a photo of Mc Dempsey in their knitwear to Instagram, saying:

"It's a source of great pride to us that our knitwear, created using long-established island traditions, is so loved by enthusiasts of well-crafted clothing. Recently, @patrickdempsey got in touch with us. He had discovered our knitwear in Dublin and, impressed and intrigued by our heritage, quality, and commitment to traditional skills, was curious to see how our knitwear is created, and to explore the landscape that inspires us. As July temperatures soared and the sea shone blue and clear, he visited our Island studio."
