For the fifth time, Qatar Airways has been revealed as the best airline in the world at the 2019 Skytrax World Airline Awards.

The results were announced during the Paris Air Show, which began on Monday and will continue until Sunday, 23rd June. The second place went to Singapore Airlines, which held the top spot last year, while third place went to Japan's ANA All Nippon Airways.

"Becoming the first airline to be named as 'Airline of the Year' for the fifth time is a landmark achievement," said Qatar's Group CEO Akbar Al Bakar.

The luxury airline also picked up the award for World's Best Business Class and World’s Best Business Class Seat, and those who have flown on the direct route from Dublin to Doha will know how superior the airline's service is.

As for Irish airlines, Aer Lingus ranked at 38th on the list of global airlines, as Ireland only 4-star airline in Skytrax's rankings. Meanwhile, Lufthansa was the only European airline that placed in the Top 10.

Ryanair was listed as 59th on the global list and placed ninth among the World's Best Low-Cost Airlines.

While Singapore Airlines missed out on the top honour, it did pick up more awards than Qatar, winning World's Best Cabin Crew, World’s Best First Class, Best Airline in Asia and World’s Best First Class Seat.
