The VHI Women's Mini Marathon takes place this Sunday, 31 May and is guaranteed to bring an incredible buzz to the city centre.
The 10km road race is now in its 44th year, and this year will see a whopping 28,000 women take to the streets to run, jog or walk either to fundraise for causes close to their hearts, reach a personal milestone or just have a fabulous day out.
Whether you're a participant or one of the many supporters, you'll be in need of a serious refuel after the race, but where should you head for great coffee and food?
We've rounded up some of our favourite spots near the finish line to make sure that there's one less thing on your mind on race day.
Beanhive Coffee Baggot St
Minutes after completing a 10km run, few things could sound as good as a full Irish, a pastry and a coffee. Thankfully, Beanhive, just steps away from the finish line, has them all. Follow the smell of their freshly baked muffins in flavours like red velvet and Dubai chocolate, and be sure to grab a beautifully decorated coffee while you're at it.
Angelina's
Located right along the Grand Canal, this restaurant and deli has everything you'd need for a one-stop pick-me-up after reaching the finish line. With stunning seating along the canal, you can cool off and catch your breath while tucking into dishes like fried chicken sambos, pancakes, waffles and more brunch staples.
Margadh Café & Wine Bar - RHA
If it's a solid feed you're after, or maybe a sneaky glass of something celebratory, Margadh in the elegant setting of the RHA is the place to shoot for. With a new head chef in Cathal Leonard, formerly of Chapter One, this bistro is becoming renowned for its Sunday roast.
Matt the Thresher
An institution at this stage, this gastro pub is the perfect place to throw yourself down for an hour or two post-run. Specialising in Irish seafood, they serve up everything from classic fish and chips to a range of luscious sandwiches.
Canal Bank Cafe
This bustling spot has been serving up top-tier dishes for years, and if it's something elevated and still nourishing you want, this is the place. From fresh and hearty salads, comforting casseroles and brunch staples, you'll be well fed here. Grab a reservation if you can and book in for their bottomless brunch for €25pp.
La Peniche
If you want to book in for a celebratory lunch or dinner later that day, La Peniche would make for a setting as memorable as the day itself. After trotting through the streets of Dublin, cruise down the Grand Canal on this charming river boat, tucking into French-inspired fare in its glamorous interior.
No. 9 by J2
After a run, carbs and protein are the priorities, so popping in for some fresh and expertly prepared sushi is never a bad idea. This sleek and cosy spot isn't big, but for a quick bento box, plate of sushi or a nourishing rice bowl, it's perfect. Expect premium ingredients, excellent technique and a welcoming staff.
The Commons at MoLI
A true hidden gem, this cool and relaxing cafe is tucked in the ground floor of the Museum of Literature of Ireland right beside St Stephen's Green, and is a perfect spot for cooling off, catching your breath and updating your Strava. They serve brunch at the weekend but we love their selection of cakes and pastries. Grab a table outside if the weather is good and revel in your achievement with an iced coffee.
