Three Irish establishments have been announced as the latest additions to the MICHELIN Guide – Great Britain & Ireland.
While Stars, Green Stars and Bib Gourmands are only revealed at the annual MICHELIN Guide Ceremony, the inspectors add restaurants to the selection year-round.
These latest additions are released on a monthly basis, and Irish restaurants have been doing particularly well, with Vada, Borgo, Comet, Lena, The Pullman, and Amai by Vikot recently receiving the nod.
Yesterday, it was revealed that The Old Spot and Kaldero in Dublin, and Blackthorn in Co. Galway, have enjoyed the same prestigious recognition.
Long-standing Sandymount pub The Old Spot was praised for its cosy bar, spacious dining rooms, and beautiful decor, with particular emphasis on the "exposed brickwork, old engravings and patinated wooden furniture". Their top recommendation? Bread and butter pudding.
Elsewhere, in Dublin 2, Filipino restaurant Kaldero was celebrated for its "warm atmosphere and flavour-packed cooking". The Michelin Guide noted the venue's "infectious buzz" and recommended that guests try as many of the Filipino-Irish chef's dishes as possible.
Finally, Blackthorn in Galway was chosen for its extensive menu of "carefully executed dishes". The bright, airy spot was chosen for its impressive "Nordic influence" and a dining room that provides an ideal backdrop for dishes focused on grilling seasonal ingredients over charcoal, whether it's lamb with herb salsa, pheasant with cavolo nero or whole black sole with brown butter and capers.
The Michelin Guide now features 115 restaurants in the Republic and 15 in "Belfast and surroundings". The updated guide for 2026 will be launched in Dublin on 9 February.
