The 20th edition of Culture Night takes place tonight, Friday, 19 September, with events celebrating culture, creativity and the arts all across the country.

Brought to you by the Arts Council, the annual event will host workshops, performances, activities, tours, tastings, readings, exhibitions, and much more.

Looking towards the gastronomical genre, we picked out six mouth-watering events happening across the country for those in search of some edible inspiration.

Apple Printing Workshop, Westmeath

This family-friendly activity is suitable for all ages and will run from 4pm - 6pm at the Water Street Association.

Celebrate the autumnal abundance of apples and unleash your inner artist as the workshop explores the art of apple printing to create your very own tea towel.

Local Artist Emma Noonan will guide you through the process, sharing tips and tricks to create beautiful prints. Enjoy some apple crumble with apples picked from a mini-orchard.

You are also invited to share your family's favourite apple recipe – apple pie, apple loaf cake, apple jelly – and take home a notebook with some apple recipes shared by the group.

Baked History & Sourdough Culture Open Night Talks, Discussion and Tastings, Dublin

Portobello's iconic Bretzel Bakery, baking onsite since the late 19th Century, will play host to a night of tasty conversations and fascinating tastings this Culture Night.

The event will be led by the current custodian, William Despard, as he explains his passion for the Real Bread campaign & Sourdough September.

Guests will embark on a sensory journey as they taste an array of fresh sourdough breads, paired with gourmet dishes from the cafe. Suitable for those aged 13 and over, the event runs from 4pm - 9pm.

Brazilian Community Event, Wexford

The Brazilian community in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, are sharing an open invitation for those wanting to celebrate Culture Night with live music and delicious Brazilian delicacies. A perfect stop on your tantalising trail.

Running from 5pm-8pm, the event will take place at Meet Brazil on Castle Hill.

Night Market on Cornmarket Street, Cork

As part of Cork's Night-Time Economy initiative, Cornmarket Street will come alive from 5pm - 9pm, with entertainment, music, and stalls galore.

Explore a vibrant mix of craft vendors, local food stalls, and family-friendly fun, allowing guests to soak up the buzzing atmosphere of the city at night. The perfect stop to keep you fueled for your night on the town.

Whites Whiskey Session, Belfast

White's Tavern, Belfast's oldest licensed pub, is offering up two epic experiences for a spirited Culture Night from 7pm - 10pm. One is suitable for 18+ and another for 13+.

The White’s Whiskey Session kicks off with a guided whiskey tasting (18+), featuring a carefully curated selection of local and historic Irish whiskeys.

Next, guests can gather close for a captivating storytelling session (13+) – unearthing some of White’s most colourful characters, from rebels and revolutionaries to poets and publicans. Learn how this tavern earned its nickname, "The Last Chance Saloon", and what secrets echo through the vaulted ceilings of its historic cellar.

All of this will be followed by the sound of fiddles, flutes, and bodhráns as the night comes alive in true céilí spirit.
