Terre restaurant in Co Cork has become Ireland's newest Two Michelin Star destination, after scoring its first Star last year.
It joined three other Irish restaurants that have been awarded their first Michelin Stars in this year's Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland.
Terre, an intimate and modern restaurant at Castlemartyr Resort in East Cork, won its first star at last year's ceremony, where it was praised for celebrating Irish produce.

Led by Vincent Crepel and his team, and set within an imposing manor resort, the restaurant was commended for its "striking and sophisticated dishes" that reflect both an appreciation for the Irish larder and global flavours that reflect Crepel's time in Asia. "Dishes are finished off at your table in the elegant dining room – a fitting touch for an experience to remember", editors write.
D'Olier Street in Dublin City Centre was awarded One Michelin Star, garnering praise for its surprise menu. The editors note that "while the techniques and influences might be global, the focus of the dishes remains firmly on the main ingredient". Located in a landmark building, the spot also won praise for its atmosphere and design.
Homestead Cottage in Doolin, Co Clare is another recipient of One Michelin Star. As the name suggests, this 200-year old cottage restaurant is dedicated to the natural landscape and the spoils of rural life. "Wonderful Irish produce is used in equally impressive dishes that are clean and modern, with no unnecessary frills", the editors write. Choose between a seven-course dinner menu or an ever-changing luch menu by day.

The Bishop's Buttery in Cashel Palace Hotel in Co Tipperary is the latest jewel in an otherwise celebrated resort, with editors remarking on its "sumptuous" decor. Located in the cellar of the Palladian manor house, it's a striking setting for a meal. Desserts in particular were celebrated, with editors noting that the cooking in general "keeps a focus on each central ingredient, which is then skilfully enhanced with complementary flavours".
The announcement was made at a ceremony held at The Midland Hotel in Manchester on Sunday, and also marked the 50th anniversary of the Guide.
The Guide now lists 1,162 restaurants across the UK and Ireland in its selection, with one restaurant receiving a Three Michelin Star rating, six restaurants receiving Two Michelin Stars and18 restaurants receiving One Star in the latest edition.
Six restaurants also received a Michelin Green Star for their commitment to sustainable food practices. This is in addition to the 20 restaurants that received a Bib Gourmand distinction in late January.
