Cher, the multi-talented musician, television personality and Oscar-winning actress, is adding another string to her bow – one that just might be the cherry on top of her career.

The 'Believe' singer has announced her entry into the food industry, as she prepares to launch her own brand of gelato she is ingeniously calling 'Cherlato'.

She unveiled the project on her Instagram, sharing a video of a brightly coloured ice cream truck emblazoned with images of the hitmaker eating the sweet treat.

"Yep, This Is Real…. I'm Launching My Gelato….Watch Out LA‼️" she said, seemingly hinting that the idea for her ice cream business came to her five years ago. "Now It’s Finally HAPPENING", she added. "More To Come."

Cher later shared a carousel of images of her ice creams, including an intricately designed cone topped with a scoop and a glazed donut, one studded with pistachios and a chocolate treat topped with chocolate shavings and served in a gold-covered cone.

Most intriguing was the scoop that looked like cotton candy, topped with flower petals.

The project is a collaboration with Giapo Ice Cream, a gluten-free ice cream company based in Auckland, New Zealand and known for their elevated and highly styled ice cream creations.

A post on Cherlato's Instagram noted that the ice cream will be served from food trucks to offer "joy, surprise and accessibility!"

"There's something magical about hearing the jingle of an ice-cream truck, knowing that a delicious treat is just around the corner. We want to spark joy in your day, serving up our boldest and coldest gelato creations in some of the hottest spots in LA!

"Surprise and delight await as we pop up into different neighborhoods, making each visit an adventure. Follow us on socials or visit our official website for location updates, so you'll never miss us!"

One Cher fan commented, "Yesterday, I sampled a chocolate scoop in a "gold" covered cone from the truck parked off Sunset Boulevard. It was a decadent delight! Tickled to be amongst the first to try the treat", giving yet another hint as to what the cool treats will be like.

Naturally, her announcement set off a cascade of impassioned puns from followers, with many offering names for ice cream flavours such as "If I Could Turn Back Lime", "The Scoop Scoop Song" and "Dark Chocolate Lady".

One follower commented, "serving us looks for decade and now she's serving us gelato", while another quipped, "Thank you for chering".

Cher isn't the first, and certainly won't be the last, celebrity to venture into the food business, with Ed Sheeran launching his own hot sauces, Kevin Hart opening a plant-based restaurant and Stranger Thing's Noah Schnapp releasing his own brand of peanut butter. But admittedly Cher has one unique selling point as an advantage: she's Cher.

Why gelato, you might be asking. We did too, but answer this: name one other celebrity-backed gelato brand.

You can't. Enter Cher.

What her gelato will end up tasting like remains to be seen, but one thing looks sure: sooner or later, we'll all crave a cone.
