Coming just in time for the weekend, the winners of the Just Eat National Takeaway Awards 2020 have been announced with awards for best chipper, pizza, spice bag and more included in the incredible line-up.

The seventh National Takeaway Awards is no doubt a special one this year, as food businesses around the country adapt and pivot to keep their doors open. In place of the usual lavish ceremony, the awards went fully digital, reflecting the change and resilience in the industry.

With 28 award categories, all voted for by the public and over 23,000 votes cast for local and independent takeaway eateries around the country, the awards are a clear picture of what we're craving these days. In comparison, 8,500 votes were cast for 74 restaurants nominated across 19 categories last year.

A spot renowned for its fresh take on Thai and Vietnamese food, Saba to Go in Rathmines was crowned Ireland's favourite takeaway for the second time in a row. The buzzing spot rapidly adapted its location to suit Covid-19 dining restrictions and soon became one of the hardest outdoor dining spots to get a table for.

The restaurant picked up a total of six awards, including Best Takeaway in Dublin, Best Takeaway Thai and Best Takeaway Healthy.

The spice bag was voted Ireland's Favourite Dish – and Saba to Go picked up the award for the best one, too.

Paul Cadden from the Irish-owned Saba Restaurant Group said: "My brother Alan, the Saba To Go team and I are absolutely delighted to have won such prestigious awards this year. Winning six categories including Best Takeaway Thai, Best Takeaway Dublin and the overall Best Takeaway Ireland for a second year in a row is all down to the incredible hard work and dedication of our team."
