When you think of takeaways, you might of American-style Chinese boxes sitting in the fridge, greasy chips after a night out or that one pizza with just the right amount of dripping melted cheese.
Delicious and life-saving in their own ways, to be sure, but in recent years our takeaway tastes have grown up, become more sophisticated in ways. We're as likely to order a pizza bianco than a plain pepperoni, or hand-pulled noodles in broth over curry chips.
So many takeaway restaurants are serving up expertly made and delicious food and should be celebrated, which is exactly what the inaugural Irish Takeaway Awards set out to do.
Created by the team behind YesChef, a food and drink magazine, the awards were handed out last night after people submitted their nominations for their favourite takeaway spots, as Paul Moore writes on Joe.ie.
