Called the KitKat Chocolatory range, the "luxury handcrafted" versions of the four-fingered chocolate and biscuit bars will appeal to those with a taste for the finer things in life, as more consumers turn towards artisan and bespoke-style food and drink.
Customers will be able to craft their own eight-fingered bars either through a special website or by visiting the pop-up stall in John Lewis's flagship store in London, with up to 1,500 possible flavour combinations.
The flavours themselves reflect changing tastes in confectionery. Long-gone are the days of bright blue vaguely bubblegum-flavoured ice cream and classic choco-mint. These new bars are decidedly millennial in tastes, with rose petals, meringue and popping candy just some of the toppings.
As well as this, special edition flavours such as Eton mess, whiskey and ginger and marmalade will be available, while bars can be enrobed in dark, milk, white or ruby chocolate - continuing the brand's use of the pink-coloured chocolate made from ruby cocoa beans, which proved to be a hit with younger customers.
But such bite-sized luxury will take a bite out of your wallet, with each bar costing up to £14 (roughly €16) depending on your flavour combinations. In comparison, the standard 41.5g four-fingered KitKat which typically costs 65p.
It's the latest move by the company, which is targeting younger and younger customers. Their matcha green tea version proved a huge success, while a recent version of the bar took its sweetness from cocoa fruit rather than refined sugar.
Speaking about the launch in a press release, Rabia Khan, Head of KitKat Chocolatory for Nestlé UK & Ireland said: "We know how much people enjoy experimenting with new and exciting KitKat flavours and the KitKat Chocolatory offers a whole new, premium KitKat experience as well as the chance to create your very own personalised break and have it delivered right to your door."
The service will run from 26th September to 24th December, so if you're looking for a Christmas present a little bit extra, you know where to go.
