Last night, things were spicing up in The Great British Bake Off tent as contestants turned their now surely calloused and flour-beaten hands to sugar and spice and everything nice.
Viewers will know that with each new episode the tasks are set at higher and higher standards, so it came as almost no surprise to hear this week's epic ask: a ginger cake, maamoul – a middle eastern pastry – and a biscuit chandelier.

Things started sweet as always, with Rahul and Kim-Joy nailing their ginger cakes, and Rahul receiving a Hollywood Handshake - not without some drama first.

Adorable Kim-Joy was named Star Baker this week, for her stunning ginger cake and awe-inspiring showstopper.

As predicted, though, a few simply couldn't rise to the challenge of the biscuit chandelier, with not one but two contestants leaving, Karen and Terry.
While Karen had predicted her own demise earlier, it was Terry who set hearts breaking the world over with his tearful speech of gratitude and joy.
We're not crying, you're crying.
As usual, watching all you #GBBO fans take to Twitter was as entertaining as the show...
Inspiration strikes
My wife asked what I would like as a birthday cake. Half in jest, I requested an exact likeness of Taffy, our dachshund. She rose to the challenge! #GBBO pic.twitter.com/oQaqJKwM3C
