What are your Fathers Day plans?
I'm inviting my Dad and my whole family to Taste of Dublin for the day. The plan is to chill out, eat loads of all the different foods and relax.

We normally end up working altogether on Father's Day somewhere in Ireland so it's nice to have the day off for the first time in years.

For many, Fathers Day is a chance for the family to get together for a nice meal - what are your top three favourite restaurants?

  • For Michelin starred food I love L'Ecrivain. You just can't go wrong with it. Derry and Sally Anne are really lovely, down to earth people.
  • We all love Kilronan Castle for special occasions. The food is to die for especially the wagyu steak and Dominique, the maitre'd, is an absolute gent. Although we haven't gone to it as a family yet, it's definitely on the list.
  • If we were going somewhere local to home, we would always pick the Slieve Russell Hotel as it's five minutes from home and we basically grew up going there. I've always loved the place as it's so peaceful and relaxing.

If the kids decide to make a meal for Dad, what recipes do you recommend?
Steak & pepper sauce. Every Dad loves steak so go all out, a good ribeye or T-bone. Also, the chips are important. Maris pipers, triple cooked in beef dripping - he will be in his element.

What are your Father’s Day plans?
We have a busy, busy weekend with many lucky dads being taken to lunch at Dunbrody so there’ll be no relaxation until later in the evening.

Eventually, I will step over to the local pub here and have a well-deserved pint or two* before strolling up to the house. Weather permitting we may have supper outside, all of us together. Then, I too will give my Dad a call.

What are your top three favourite restaurants for Father's Day?

  • L’Ecrivain – Seasonal Irish ingredients given full French gastronomic treatment.
  • The Green Hen – Fantastic French Cuisine with Irish variations.
  • Duck, Fade Street, Dublin - authentic flavours of Hong Kong in Dublin.

If the kids decide to make a meal for Dad, what recipes do you recommend?
A simple Roast Chicken is a safe option, some seasonal vegetables (washed but not necessarily peeled) can be drizzled in some olive oil and sprinkled with some herbs and roasted in the oven as the chicken cooks - simple and nutritious and perfect for a family.

What are your Fathers Day plans?
I am working in Ananda on Sunday, so I will spend my day in the kitchen creating a special Father’s Day menu for our customers in the restaurant.

My father lives at home in India; when we are together for Father's Day I always love to treat him and take him for a meal in a fancy restaurant so he can enjoy all his favourite foods.

What are your top three favourite restaurants for Father's Day?

  • I really like Etto on Merrion Row, D2 as the food is really amazing and it's great value.
  • Michael’s of Mount Merrion is brilliant for seafood and my Dad loves fish so I think I would definitely take him there.
  • If I wanted to splash out a bit more then it would have to be Chapter One.

If the kids decide to make a meal for Dad, what recipes do you recommend?
I would definitely recommend a classic Sunday roast. You can't go wrong with that!

In India, you would make a simple meal with lots of naan breads, lentils, or classic chicken tandoor. Plus, since my dad loves sweets, so I would make him a really hearty delicious dessert like salted caramel brownie or tiramisu. He likes coffee and chocolate so these desserts would be perfect.
