Celebrate Paddy's Day with 5 Irish Food Foodies

The lovely lads at The Hungry Culchie have hand-picked five Irish food producers to celebrate this St. Patrick's Day.

Cool Bean Co.
An absolute must for those of you who lead a hectic lifestyle like ourselves, but still like to eat healthily. These convenient little pots of gluten-free deliciousness can be popped in the microwave and have you refueled in a matter of minutes. They’re high in protein, fibre, and super healthy, as well as being low in calories, fat and contain no added sugar.

Every time I meet Sarah & Isolde at a food festival, I’m greeted with a smile. Two of the loveliest girls selling three of the loveliest flavours in original tomato, sumptuous smokey and hot hot chilli.

O’Hanlon Herbs
O’Hanlon Herbs are one of Ireland’s leading herb providers, and specialists in fresh herbs since 1988. It is very rare that we put a dish together without using one of their products. Providers to the vast majority of Irish supermarkets, O’Hanlon Herbs provide a full range of herbs such as basil, chives, coriander, flat parsley, mint, rosemary and thyme. Seasonal speciality herbs such as lemon verbena are also available.

Boyne Valley Cheese
Operating since the 1930’s, the Finnegan Family Farm is anything but short on experience. In 2007, they opened their goat enterprise which is now spearheaded by Michael & Jenny Finnegan. Since then, they have grown their herd of Saanen, Alpine, Toggenburg and Anglo Nubian to around 300 milkers and produce one of the finest cheeses to ever cross my pallet.

I spent years saying I didn’t like Blue Goat’s Cheese without ever really giving it a proper try. As a Christmas Dinner starter last year, Alan rustled up some Deep Fried Boyne Valley Blue Goat’s Cheese and I instantly fell in love. Bursting with flavour, it’s hands down one of our all-time favourite cheeses.

Kerrigan’s Butchers
Our go-to source for high quality Irish meat, Kerrigan’s Butchers are the definition of a successful Irish family-run business. With over forty years experience, Kerrigan’s offer high quality products that are 100% traceable from local suppliers; an absolute must for The Hungry Culchie Team.

In addition to traditional cuts, Kerrigan’s also offer easy-cook, ready-to-eat and heat-and-eat ranges of products to cater for the modern lifestyle. Our personal favourite is their foods-for-fitness range which makes life so much easier for the fitness fanatics out there.

Aedamar’s Curds
I came across Aedamar Cassidy for the first time during the 2016 Ploughing Championships and her curds have been a regular on The Hungry Culchie table ever since. Made to her grandmother’s traditional recipe using all natural ingredients, she combines her modern food production skills to bring you this exciting range of delicious curds. Great curds! An even greater woman!
