Tastes Like Home is the RTÉ programme where Catherine Fulvio travels the world to bring Irish living abroad a taste of home, some of their favourite dishes - plus she brings us all along to see the reaction!
This week in Tastes Like Home Catherine meets Jacinta Bailie who lives in Dublin with her husband Adrian and her two daughters Emily (4) & Anabel (2).
Jacinta’s parents have passed away and both her brother and sister are now living abroad.
Many of Jacinta's recipes have special memories attached to them which Jacinta hopes to share with her sister Savina living in Portland, Oregon.
Savina moved to Portland, a major foodie destination known for its parks, bridges and bicycle paths, as well as for its eco-friendliness and its microbreweries and coffeehouses over 20 years ago.
In recent years Portland has become a very hip foodie area of America and is home to the ‘food truck scene’ with over 600 licensed food trucks so you’ll never have to eat the same meal twice.

Savina, like many other Irish living abroad, really misses a good Irish fry which wouldn't be complete without the Irish sausage which Savina feels is the ultimate sausage.
Sausages are always cooked when Savina and the family arrived home from Portland to visit and it was always the one time family, friends and neighbours could sit down and catch up with the family over breakfast so it brings back lots of great family memories.
In this episode Jacinta and Catherine whip up the ultimate traditional Irish breakfast complete with scones and potato cakes as when Catherine heads to Portland she plans to teach Savina and her family how to make their own Irish sausages and cure their own bacon in the hope it will taste like home! Can she do it?
