Tastes Like Home: Catherine heads to Canada

Episode 2 of Tastes Like Home  this Friday on RTÉ One will bring Catherine to Canada where she meets Mark Bradley and his family who now live in Tiny Township, Ontario on a house right on the beach in front of Lake Georgian Bay. Mark left Donegal twenty-five years ago but still longs for the saltwater scallops cooked over an open peat fire and his brother in laws fresh caught Lobster & Crabs.

Nuala and husband Packie run the Curlew Cafe in Kerrykeel, Co. Donegal, who served all their own seafood, caught by Nuala’s husband Packie who is a lobster fisherman! No wonder Mark misses their food! Mark Bradley also misses proper Irish wheaten bread which his mother used to make. Luckily for him, his sister now makes it daily in the cafe.

Catherine visits with Nuala and Packie to learn the secrets of making these dishes before heading to Canada to recreate it for Nuala’s brother Mark. Catherine absolutely loved Packie's scallop dish and says it may have stood out as her favourite in the whole series!

While in Canada, Catherine visits a whole host of local business to try a range of Canadian delicacies such as poutine and maple butter! Tastes Like Home will bring viewers on an apple trail, a scenic caves nature adventures and take a visit to Breedon’s Maple Syrup Farm!
