The Taste of Success is on RTÉ One every Tuesday at 8:30pm. This week we saw the mentors whittle down their final eight competitors to four.

1. Being forgetful can work to your advantage.

Nikki was as cool as a cucumber in the kitchen to quote her mentor Roz when she was cooking her ‘Inside Out Burger’ under her watchful eye. So cool that she forgot one of the main ingredients but it worked as Roz preferred the taste and made her the Dublin Regional Champion.

2. Domini’s Kitchen.

Who doesn’t want that kitchen. It’s what novice chefs aspire to have one day. Everything to hand and I’m sure she has utensils we couldn’t even pronounce.  It’s a chef dream to cook there as her Dublin contestants found out. Wonder who was left with the washing up?

3. Old school is the best.

JP seemed very impressed when Evelyn & Emma pulled out their mixer from 1961 and if they’re missing a baking tray, just check out JP’s wall. He’s right is does look like an abstract painting. We’ve the Louvre on line one for Evelyn.

4. Daithi’s timing is impeccable.

Funny how Dáithí knows the exact moment to arrive in the kitchen with fork in hand and no we never had to cue him, his nose does a better job than any director.

5. The Taste of Success making dreams come true (since 2014)

Some of us sing in front of the mirror with our hairbrush mics dreaming of selling out stadiums but not our Edgar. When he cooks he imagines himself in his own cooking show.  Glad we could oblige and looks like you’re one step closer to making that dream a reality Edgar.

Congratulations to our four regional champions. Nikki Cogley from Leinster, James Kavanagh and William Murray from Dublin, Edgar Kirby in Munster and Michelle Kilkenny representing Connaught/Ulster.

Next week they face the Lidl judges for the first time. How will the nerves hold up as four become three? Who will take that step closer to winning The Taste of Success? Tune in Tuesday 29th RTÉ One 8.30pm to find out.
