Neven Maguire was down at the National Ploughing Championships 2016 at the Irish Farmer's Journal tent. This is his 9th year at the Ploughing, and he's enjoying it more now than ever before. So what is it about the Ploughing that has Neven returning to cook up a storm?

"I love it because the people are amazing" Neven said.

"It's the heart of the country and the people, they're just good, honest decent people. Good fun, good humour, you've good banter. You've a bit of fun. They see a different side to me at the Ploughing that they wouldn't see on television."

Speaking of television, Neven sahred the details on his upcoming show, Neven's Food Trails, set to air on the 29th of September on RTÉ. 

"It's over 120 programmes I've done with RTÉ", Neven beamed, "so I'm absolutely privileged. Thank you to RTÉ for their support. 

"It's called Neven's Food Trails and it's all based on the fast food, Spanish cooking kind of thing."

Neven has ample experience of Spanish food, having trained in the Basque Country in northern Spain, where he fell in love with the people and the culture and also the food. 

But while Neven agrees Spanish style foods like tapas are becoming more and more popular in Ireland, so too is the need for changes to our healthy eating habits. Neven has simple tips to keep people on track.

"Knowing where your produce comes from, cooking from scratch so buying less processed food, and just keeping it simple." Neven suggested.

"And eating together as a family. I think if you have young children and they see what you're eating and they're part of the food process. What I mean is by shopping, by buying and cooking, it's a win win for everyone."
