Derry designer Jonathan Anderson brought his womenswear Spring/Summer 2026 range for Dior to Paris Fashion Week on Wednesday, 1 October.

Anderson was appointed as Creative Director for both menswear and womenswear for the storied French fashion house earlier this summer, having moved from Spanish brand Loewe after 11 extraordinarily successful years.

As well as celebrating his Irish heritage, and paying tribute to the life and legacy of Monsieur Dior, Anderson has, so far, played with his renowned genderless aesthetic throughout his collections.

His first show for the brand, Dior Homme's ready-to-wear collection in June 2025, was peppered with Old World motifs, nods to the French house's history and avant-garde updates on classics.

For the womenswear runways, the theme continued with shapely dresses reminiscent of the panniers worn by courtiers in Versailles.

Romantic ruffles and dramatic layers of lace were paired with exaggerated tricorne hats, which became popular in Europe during the 18th century.

Christian Dior himself was known for making dramatic headpieces, pulling inspiration from various eras of history. In 1967, he created a neat white panne tricorne number as well as a black organza velvet coiffeur and a black and white 'African Queen' hat inspired Isicholos, traditional Zulu hats.

Although he is often paying homage to the brand's founder, Anderson has firmly put his own stamp on each of his incredibly modern looks, playing with colour, shape, and gender.

As Vogue editor Laura Ingham put it: "Jonathan's signature surrealism is infused with house codes, the matador, the medallion, the bar jacket, the peplum. There's so much to take in on each and every look."

Anderson brought florals to his spring/summer collection through romantic details, playful pops of colour and show-stealing shoes.

The Lady Dior campaign by Jonathan Anderson, which launched last week, is said to pay tribute to "the flowers that shaped Monsieur Dior's life, from the roses of his Granville childhood to the gardens he cultivated as a couturier".

It seems that the theme continues, with models walking the runway with feet covered in large petals.
