Nicola Coughlan, Laura Whitmore and Aisling Bea flew the flag for Irish talent on the Glamour Women of the Year Awards red carpet last night.

Now in its 18th year, the annual award show was held at Raffles at the OWO in London and was hosted once again by comedian Katherine Ryan. The dazzling event featured figures from music, television, film, and sport, all of whom have used their platforms to champion female empowerment this year.

Ryan delivered a rousing speech about the epidemic of violence against women and girls, saying that "Plenty has been done, but there's so much still to do. Tonight, we celebrate women who bravely push the envelope for continued change".

Winners on the night included Bridgerton's Simone Ashley, who was awarded the Gamechanging Actor award, which was presented to her by her co-star in the hit Regency show, Nicola Coughlan.

Singer Chlöe Bailey received the Musician of the Year Award, and Jodie Turner-Smith won the award for Screen Trailblazer. Pamela Anderson walked away with the UK Impact Award, for her advocacy work for animal welfare, AIDS and HIV awareness and unhealthy beauty standards.

In recent months, the 90s superstar has been eschewing makeup in favour of a fresh face, challenging beauty standards across the world. She also used her speech to talk about living as a survivor of sexual violence.*

She said: "I know it takes tremendous strength to heal. And I thank everyone who supported me on this journey. These last few years have felt like a fresh slate. I'm on my path a new, glorious and imperfect one. But the lesson I've learned is I will not let what happened to me define me. Is what I do that defines me. I dedicate this award to women everywhere, rising above their painful paths and finding the courage to be their best selves."

There were a number of familiar faces on the night, including Coughlan who looked elegant in a short black mini dress that she paired with burgundy sheer tights and towering burgundy platform shoes by Gucci.

Laura Whitmore dazzled in a strapless gown by Vivienne Westwood that featured a dramatic sweetheart neckline and ruffled skirt, with a daring thigh-high slit.

Glamour Editor-in-Chief Samantha Barry looked typically glamorous, wearing a pale blue column gown by Huishan Zhang, featuring exaggerated pleated sleeves and crystal embellishments on the neckline.

Comedian Aisling Bea kept it simple and classy in a black mini dress, accessorised with gold jewellery and Mary Jane shoes.
