Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, Katy Perry and Sabrina Carpenter were just some of the famous faces strutting their stuff on the VMAs black carpet last night.
Held in New York's UBS Arena, and hosted this year by Megan Thee Stallion, the iconic award ceremony celebrates achievements in music and once again drew in A-listers all hoping to walk home with a coveted Moon Man award.

Coming to the end of her zeitgeist-defining Eras Tour, Swift led the nominations with 12 nods, and stepped out in an outfit that would look right at home on the stage. The Fortnight singer wore a black and yellow tartan gown by Dior, featuring a corset bodice, overlay skirt, black shorts and black strappy gloves, paired with thigh-high black leather boots.
All eyes were on Chappell Roan, the breakout star of the year, who brought typical fantasy and storytelling with multiple looks inspired Joan of Arc. The HOT TO GO! singer stunned in a dramatic gown by Y/Project, which featured layers of delicate chiffon in moody shades of burgundy and grey.

She paired this with a medieval-inspired seafoam green velvet cape, armoured boots, chainmail-inspired bracelets and long, pointed silver nail rings.
After her theatrical performance of hit Good Luck, Babe!, she changed into a slinky chainmail dress by Rabbane and matching headpiece, in time to win the award for Best New Artist, which she dedicated "to all the drag artists who inspire me, and I dedicate this to queer and trans people that fuel pop, to the gays who dedicate my songs to someone they love or hate".

Another star having a huge cultural impact was Sabrina Carpenter, who looked to her pop princess forebears when coming up with an outfit for the VMAs. Carpenter dazzled in a white sequinned column dress by Bob Mackie, which was originally worn by Madonna to the 1991 Academy Awards.

The slinky gown features a cinched in waist and a dramatic open neckline embellished with sparkling beading. She finished her look with 80s'-style curls and her trademark ombre lip.
Own own Laura Whitmore made a glamorous appearance at the awards, too, attending the ceremony with husband Iain Sterling.
Whitmore looked fierce in a rich blue mini dress by Drenusha Xharra, a Kosovo-based atelier that specialises in bridal as well as flirty party dresses. Whitmore's ensemble featured a low V-neckline, ruffled embellishments on the shoulders and a dramatic train that flowed behind her.

Styled by Emma Lane, she finished her look with towering black strappy heels and a smoky blue eye look.
