From Cillian Murphy's classic Versace suit, to Ryan Gosling's open shirt, tailor Seán Treacy is sharing his insights to the latest looks from the Oscars red carpet.
As the owner of Hunter Treacy Tailors, a made-to-measure tailors that is bringing custom suits to the Irish market, Dubliner Seán Treacy knows a thing or two about men's fashion.
Reflecting on the wide variety of looks from the Academy Awards, Treacy believes that men are becoming increasingly experimental when it comes to their red carpet looks.
"It used to be either the classic black tux or something totally bonkers," he laughs. "Where as now, look at Ryan Gosling, he had a pretty clean cut tux but a lovely little detail of silver lining and a more relaxed shirt. He's taken a classic look but put it very much in his style."
"I think you see a lot more subtle creativity," he adds. "Don't push the boundaries to what you're not comfortable in. It's best to work with what you have, but make sure you tailor it really well."

As an Irish man - living in West Cork, no less - it comes as no surprise that Cillian Murphy was Treacy's top pick of the night.
"I'm a big fan of his image consultant, Rose Forde," he explains. "I think Cillian's look personifies his personality in a way. It's always understated but cleanly tailored and really suited to his vibe.
"I think lately, since Oppenheimer, his appearances have seen him in a traditional style with a slightly higher waist, wider shoulders, and a more relaxed fit.
"It's relaxed but well tailored, and I think that's a really good look in general at the minute. You can see it creeping across to general men's wear."

Murphy's custom Atelier Versace suit was comprised of a wool tweed single-breasted jacket with contrast silk peaked lapels, a silk formal shirt with pleated front panel and concealed buttons, and a a pair of mohair wool tailored pants with a large silk waistband.
Describing the suit as having a "somewhat vintage style", the Dublin born tailor insists that the cut of the designer will "never age".
The timeless aesthetic paired with eye-catching details such as a dazzling pin, hand-tied bow tie, and satin cummerbund made it the perfect look for the Academy Awards.
"I think it's a very well thought out outfit," he says. "He looks super comfortable. It's a nice, clean look that's worthy of an Oscar winner."

Murphy's Oppenheimer co-star, Robery Downey Jr, also made a splash with his Saint Laurent suit and bolo tie.
The 48-year-old made sure to honour the gravitas of the awards by wearing something classic, but stayed true to his quirky personality by adding accessories and embracing a slightly more outrageous cut.
"The outfit nails his personality," says Seán. "The really structured shoulder and the big lapel bring a 60s sort of vibe, with that kind of flared trouser. Again, I thought it was really cool because he dresses to his personality: a little quirky but respectful to the event."

Rounding up his top three looks of the night, Treacy says that Cillian takes the top spot followed by Ryan Gosling and Jack Quaid.
Quaid wore a plum velvet suit, which the tailor appreciated for its deep colour and double breasted jacket - a dependable style for formal events.
Reflecting on his own clients, the tailor says that Irish men are becoming increasingly influenced by celebrity style, with more and more clients referencing Paul Mescal when looking for a suit.
"Mescal always rocks those Gucci white tuxes and I've done a lot of those this year," he insists. "A lot of lads will look on Pinterest, or their partners will, and they'll come in with their inspirations."

Based on Pembroke Street Upper, Dublin 2, the made-to-measure tailors focuses on sustainable, natural fabrics and ethical manufacturing using modern technology to ensure a perfect fit for customers.
As well as working by appointment in the capital, Treacy is hoping to develop an online shop that will allow customers to source a customised suit that won't break the bank.
"They will be able to order from our house range of 20 fabrics - all deadstock from luxury brands like Ralph Lauren - and they can order their 42 regular, for example, but specify their sleeve length, trouser length, and waist size.
"People can access that luxury garment that's sustainably made but at a lower price point."
