Known as the 'British Oscars', the BAFTAs takes place on Sunday, 18 February, in London.

Now in its 77th year, the celebrated award ceremony last year heralded a new era of the event by moving from Royal Albert Hall, where it had been held for the previous six years, to the Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall, where it returned to this year.

Always a star-studded event, the BAFTAs also promised a glamorous red carpet, as some of the biggest names in the film industry and more strut their stuff in the lead-up to the Oscars.

Irish talent shone on the red carpet, with Cillian Murphy, Barry Keoghan, Andrew Scott and more in attendance. As they have throughout this awards season, they dazzled in bold looks.

Murphy stepped out in an all-black monochromatic look, with the Oppenheimer star wearing a black top, slim black trousers, a matching cummerbund and a long black coat. Saltburn star Keoghan, meanwhile, repped his home country in a dark bottle green suit featuring a cropped jacket accented with buckles and slim trousers. He paired this with a classic white shirt.

Scott went all out once again, turning heads in a bright scarlet tuxedo, with a matching red shirt and ombre-effect red leather shoes. His All of Us Strangers co-star Paul Mescal went for an usual double-breasted suit trimmed with white.

Honorary Irishwoman Ayo Edebiri walked the red carpet in a jaw-dropping Old Hollywood inspired look, wearing a pale peach satin column dress with an elaborate bustier neckline, which she topped off with a feathered fur stole.

Other famous faces turned up the dial on the glamour, including Florence Pugh who looked striking in a black and silver gown with a corset on the waist and a black stole to match.

Emma Stone took a leaf out of her Poor Things role as Bella Baxter, wearing a dramatic salmon-hued one-shouldered gown with a voluminous puff sleeve.
