Presented by the Foxtel Group in the Gold Coast, Australia, the 2024 AACTA Awards welcomed a host of Aussie stars including Margot Robbie, Rebel Wilson, and Cate Blanchett as well as a a virtual appearance from Irish man Cillian Murphy.

Styled by Andrew Mukamal, Barbie star Margot Robbie stunned in sequins thanks to a breath-taking remake of the 'Pirate Bride' gown from Vivienne Westwood's Spring/Summer 1998 'Tied to the Mast' collection.

The off-the-shoulder gown was inspired by pirate lore, including the old wives' tale that, in the event of an attack or storm, women onboard a ship were tied to the pirate ship's mast to ensure their safety.

"In homage to rebellion, the Pirate Bride wearing the Long Cocotte was conceived," states the Vivienne Westwood archives.

Originally worn by model Eva Herzigova - styled with a black eye patch and a sheer white headpiece - the dress showcased Westwood's ability to knot together her signature corseted punk designs with a thoroughly romantic aesthetic.

Robbie dazzled in the sequinned dress while accepting the Trailblazer Award from a very pink Cate Blanchett.

The Tár star surprised Robbie on stage by dressing as "middle-aged Barbie" in a shockingly pink dress and a comically large polka-dot hair bow.

Accepting the award, Robbie said: "If you asked me growing up who my favourite actor was, my answer was always, and will always be, Cate Blanchett, so thank you for showing up, Cate, in all your glory."

"I have been adoring you from afar for as long as I can remember. To be adoring you now, at such close proximity is truly over-whelming and a little bit mind-boggling - as mind-boggling as it is to be receiving this award."

Later in the evening, Blanchett was spotted in a revamped piece of Armani Privé couture. The jumpsuit was originally a gown that Blanchett wore to the screening of Suspiria during the 75th Venice Film Festival at Sala Grande on September 1, 2018 in Venice, Italy.

Irish actor Cillian Murphy attended the awards virtually to accept the award for 'Best Lead Actor in Film' for his role in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.

The Cork man accepted the award wearing a simple black jacket over a white t-shirt, with the sunshine-filled streets of LA as his backdrop.
