Rosamund Pike revealed that she decided to wear a "protective" veil to the Golden Globes, following a Stephens' Day skiing accident.

Walking the red carpet, the London-born actress stunned in a vintage Dior couture gown. Designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the dress was intricately adorned with notes of sheer texture and floral details composed in a 'tattoo' effect on black mesh.

To complete the bewitching look, Pike added a matching veil from Irish milliner Philip Treacy.

The head piece framed her face to perfection, and added a touch of drama to the star's look, on a night where she was nominated for her supporting role in Emerald Fennell's suspense-filled hit, Saltburn.

As well as enjoying the glamour of the eye-catching piece, Pike told WWD reporters that she had to think "creatively" when it came to dressing "appropriately" for the red carpet following a skiing accident on December 26.

"We talked about a filter - that wasn't on an iPhone," she laughed, explaining that she reached out to Treacy just two weeks before the event as the fall had damaged her chin.

Thankfully, the injury seemed to have healed by the time the awards came around, but the Golden Globe nominee decided to stick with the look: "Saltburn gives you license to be a bit extreme and not play by the rules."

She later told Variety that the look was a tribute to her character, former model Elspeth Catton: "You have to channel it, don't you? Either a weird funeral vibe or maybe she wore black for her wedding."

Taking to Instagram, Galway-born Treacy posted various photos and videos of the memorable look - you can see them here.
