The 81st Golden Globes took place tonight in the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, with Barry Keoghan, Cillian Murphy and more walking the red carpet.
Widely seen as the first major awards event of the year and hosted this year by comedian Jo Koy, the star-studded ceremony kicks off award season and gives celebrities the opportunity to dress to impress and make some bold statements on the red carpet. It marks the long march towards the Academy Awards, which takes place on 10 March.

Irish talent shone through in many of the award categories, especially in the Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama category, where Oppenheimer's Cillian Murphy, All of Us Strangers' Andrew Scott and Saltburn's Barry Keoghan made up half of the six nominees.
Keoghan was the first to arrive on the red carpet, wearing a bold outfit by Louis Vuitton that seemed to align with the early-Noughties setting of Saltburn. He paired a cropped read blazer with loose red checked trousers that were accented with a chain on the belt.
He finished his look with a white shirt, black patent shoes, an Omega watch and an ornate gold and pearl neck chain accented with a bright red gem.

Scott was pared back and minimal in contrast, walking the red carpet in an all-white outfit by Valentino, which featured a vest, a tuxedo-style blazer and wide trousers. He finished his look with white dress shoes.

Murphy went for a more classic, albeit relaxed, take on red carpet fashion, arriving in a simple black suit and white shirt by Saint Laurent, worn unbuttoned and without a tie to match the more informal attitude at the Golden Globes.
