Awards season is among us, and our own Cillian Murphy kickstarted affairs as he picked up a coveted Achievement Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
The festival, which honours standout achievements in acting, directing and more, took place in the Palm Springs Convention Center in Southern California last night and saw Murphy, Greta Gerwig and more celebrated for their work in the film industry last year.

As the stars of the two biggest films to dominate last year - Oppenheimer and Barbie - Murphy and Margot Robbie walked the carpet separately, but both parts of Barbenheimer were honoured as director Gerwig also picked up an award.
Also among the honorees were Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell for their musical work on Barbie, Carey Mulligan for Maestro, American Fiction's Jeffrey Wright who is getting the Career Achievement Award, Paul Giamatti and Da’Vine Joy Randolph from The Holdovers, Danielle Brooks and Colman Domingo from The Color Purple and Emma Stone, who was also honoured for her acting in Poor Things.

Murphy attended with co-star Robert Downey Jr, who introduced him onstage and presented the award. Murphy continued his dapper award show streak, wearing a black tuxedo and white dress shirt, accented with a simple black bow tie.
Downey Jr, meanwhile, went bold in a pale pink suit with chunky sneakers.

Emma Stone leaned into the avant garde aesthetic of her upcoming film, Poor Things, wearing a custom patterned overcoat and a shirt and satin bolo tie from Louis Vuitton, while Margot Robbie dipped back into her Barbie-themed wardrobe for a pale pink satin mini dress from Balmain covered in polka dots with matching shoes.
