Meghan Markle made a stylish return to the spotlight last night, dazzling in a monochrome trouser suit that harkened back to her days of modern and chic tonal dressing while in the Royal Family.

The Duchess of Sussex was in New York City with husband Prince Harry, hosting an event for World Mental Health Day on the topic "Mental wellness in the digital age".

The pair returned to the Big Apple for the inaugural Archewell Foundation Parents' Summit, spearheaded by their non-profit organisation Archewell, which they founded in 2020. The event was part of nonprofit Project Healthy Minds' second annual World Mental Health Day Festival, and featured US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy and NBC's Carson Daly on the panel.

The couple spoke about working with parents whose lives had been tragically affected by their children's online usage, with Markle saying: "A year ago when we met some of the families, not all of them, it was impossible to not be in tears as I'm sure so many of you have been today hearing these stories.

"You can hear these stories again and again and again, and it's still going to have the same emotional impact because it's just that devastating."

She spoke about raising their own children, Archie, four and a half, and Lilibet, two and a half, noting, "social media is not going away".

Speaking about her family, she said, "Being a mom is the most important thing in my entire life... outside of course being a wife to this one," gesturing to Prince Harry.

"But I will say, I feel fortunate that our children are at an age, again, quite young, so this isn't in our immediate future, but I also feel frightened by how it's continuing to change.

"And this will be in front of us. As they say, 'Being a parent, the days are long but the years are short.' So it worries me, but I'm also given a lot of hope and a lot of energy by the progress we've made in the last year."

For the event, Markle wore an elegant white blazer by Altuzarra featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline, wide Bardot-style bust and matching buttons down the front. She paired this with matching wide-legged white pants and pointed toe stiletto heels, both by the brand.

She accessorised with a short gold necklace accented with a dark jewel in the centre, and matching stud earrings. She wore a dark smokey eye, nude lipstick and plenty of blush and bronzer, while her hair was gathered into a textured bun with strands falling around her face.
