The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), an annual celebration of international and Canadian cinema, has kicked off amid the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood.
Now in its 48th year, the annual festival is a decidedly more understated affair this year, as actors are prohibited from promoting new work under the terms of the strike. Nonetheless, the TIFF red carpet has attracted a number of famous faces, who dressed for the occasion.

Running from September 7-17, the glamorous festival is set to premiere the latest film from Studio Ghibli, Pain Hustlers starring Chris Evans and Emily Blunt, and Fingernails, starring our own Jessie Buckley.
Over the weekend stars including Dakota Johnson, Taika Waititi and Lil Nas X walked the red carpet as the festival kicked off.
Attending the premiere of her latest film, Daddio, alongside co-star Sean Penn, Johnson made a statement in an ethereal sheer nude gown featuring a fish pattern, which she wore with woven burgundy peel-toe heels.

Daisy Jones and the Six star Camila Morrone made a glamorous appearance wearing an Old Hollywood-inspired white taffeta gown at the TIFF Tribute Gala.
Elsewhere, rapper Lil Nas X attended the festival to premiere his documentary Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero wearing a striking all black outfit featuring a black coat, zippered black trousers and chunky platform shoes.
