Nell Mescal stole the show at Electric Picnic last weekend, taking the stage in a custom corset made from an Irish tea towel.
The singer has had a busy summer of opening for major acts, including Florence + the Machine, HAIM and Dermot Kennedy, and her set at Electric Picnic was no less impressive. Almost as impressive, however, has been her outfit choices, which have featured some statement pieces.
Mescal played the Three Stage on Saturday and took to the stage wearing possibly her most striking outfit yet: a custom made green and white corset fashioned from an Irish tea towel.
Designed by Brighton-based Rosie Evans and made from the kind of tea towels many of us will recognise from our own homes and souvenir shops, the Elizabethan-inspired corset featured a square neckline and images of round towers, shamrocks and horse-drawn carts, with "Ireland" emblazoned across the bust in traditional script.
Mescal paired the piece with a flowing embroidered white maxi skirt and long sleeve sheer white top, and finished her look with gold jewellery, white socks and chunky black shoes.
Posting about her set on Instagram, Mescal's comments were flooded with admiration for her look, with one follower writing, "the corset is very much employed as a full time server give that baby a RAISE".
Mescal has previously worn designs by Evans on her tour, including one design made from a Lake District tea towel and another richly textured pink-toned corset when playing Thomond Park earlier this summer.
Evans specialises in 'High Fantasy' luxury fashion that prioritise upcycling and sustainability, according to her website, and has made designs using "1950s hand embroidered table cloths, old silk curtains and patchwork scrap fabric".
She has created designs for Griff, Josie Mann, Paloma Mami, Poppy Ajudha and more.
