Destined to be one of the biggest films in cinemas this year, Oppenheimer had its world premiere in Paris, France last night, with the key cast members walking the red carpet together.

Cillian Murphy, who stars as American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon and director Christopher Nolan all dressed to the nines for the premiere, which took place in the Cinema Le Grand Rex, where Nolan had the premiere of his first film, Memento.

With the film dropping in Ireland on 21 July, the cast had previously gathered for a boat tour of the Seine ahead of the premiere, no doubt soaking in a moment of calm before the chaos of the press tour kicks off.

Speaking before the film began, Nolan cautioned the crowd that "it's an intense experience, it’s a serious subject, but it’s something we pulled our hearts into".

Murphy led the charge in an elegant black suit that featured sharp vintage-inspired tailoring and silhouettes. He paired it with a light brown shirt and matching tie, sticking to a palette of dark neutrals that seems on theme for the World War II-era film.

Blunt brought a burst of colour to the red carpet, wearing a striking pale green satin gown by Balmain, featuring structured shoulders, ruching at the hip and a collar detail that also seemed to hark back to 1940's silhouettes. She paired this with pale green satin Malone Souliers shoes.

Downey Jr. looked suave in an all-navy ensemble, wearing a navy tuxedo and matching navy shirt and tie, while Damon went slightly more casual in a navy suit jacket and trousers worn over a simple white t-shirt.

Nolan himself wore a pale grey suit, with a white shirt and black tie.
