Alexa Chung chose an Irish design for her turn on the Met Gala steps.
The annual event is one of the highlights of the celebrity calendar and sees actors, singers, musicians and models work the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, providing show-stopping looks as well as raising funds for The Costume Institute.

As one of the most influential fashion figures in recent memory, whenever Chung steps out, fashion watchers take notice, so it was especially exciting to see the eternal "It girl" choose an Irish designer.
Chung wore a custom look by Dublin-based designer Róisín Pierce.
Speaking to Vogue, Chung recalled how the pair started speaking over Instagram direct messages after she spotted the designer's work online.
"I discovered Róisín's work quite recently on Vogue Runway, which I peruse now and then to see what’s going on. I was immediately impressed by her frothy, intelligent designs and began to think of events I might be able to wear one to."
In the end, Chung chose a heavily ornamented outfit featuring a top and skirt combo, both emblazoned with a romantic star-and-flower motif. The ensemble was created for Pierce's Two For Joy collection.
The top was made from squares of satin, overlayed with organza stitched in a daisy pattern. The floral design was continued through the use of large flower appliques, which were connected with satin bows.
The skirt, meanwhile, was sheer and elegantly tailored into a fluted shape. The outfit was completed with a delicate embroidered headpiece.
Pierce's collection drew inspiration from the traditional robes crafted by women in Magdalene Laundries, she told Vogue, as well as Irish white-on-white embroidery.
Chung accessorised her outfit with heels and a clutch bag by Jimmy Choo, choosing a classic pair of black pointed-toe stilettos.

Her makeup, meanwhile, was inspired by a fellow generation-defining beauty: Linda Evangelista. Chung and her team looked to an iconic beauty look by Peter Phillips for the Chanel 2003 Haute Couture runway show.
At that glamorous show, Evangelista walked the catwalk in an embroidered organza cap embellished with rhinestones, fresh complexion and a swatch of thick silver glitter on her eyes.
