This week's makeover candidate on Today with Maura and Dáíthí is Mary Casey from Glenflesk in Co Kerry.

Mary was nominated by her son, Martin, who told the show that his mother is a powerhouse, who always gets involved in whatever needs doing, and is an enthusiastic contributor to Thought For The Day on Kerry Radio.

Mary loves watching the makeovers on the show, and regularly tells Martin that she would just love the glam squad to get their hands on her!

A very youthful 79 years of age, and celebrating 53 years of marriage with her husband, Paddy, this summer, Mary says that she started her life on a farm on the island of Dursey, Co Cork when she was invited to a cousin's wedding in England.

The bright lights drew her in and she moved over soon after, working for the Department of Social Welfare in Romford. It was there that she met Paddy Casey from Kenmare, fell in love, and got married - all the time saving to move back to Ireland.

With three kids in tow, the couple bought a site in Glenflesk, Co Kerry, and moved back to Ireland before having Martin.

Sadly, tragedy struck the family seven years ago when Mary's son, Kevin, passed away at the age of 40 following a cancer diagnosis, leaving his wife and three young boys behind.

For her big day in RTÉ's Cork studio, Mary brought her good friend and partner in crime, Mary Quinlan. The reveal was one of the most animated and hilarious of the season yet.

Mary's makeover squad consisted of hair stylist Pamela Morrissey, make up artist Mark Rogers, and fashion stylist Fiona Hayes.
