Law Roach, the top Hollywood stylist behind some of the most influential and memorable celebrity red carpet looks, has announced he will retire citing burnout and "false narratives" in the industry.

Roach is widely considered to be among the most influential stylists in Hollywood and has dressed everyone from Bella Hadid and Lewis Hamilton, to Lindsay Lohan and Celine Dion.

His most widely known and celebrated partnership, however, is with Zendaya, who has become a fashion favourite and eternal presence on best-dressed lists in large part thanks to this partnership.

Just this past awards season, he styled the star in no less than four stunning outfits in a week, among other clients. At the Vanity Fair Oscars party on Sunday, he dressed Megan Thee Stallion, Hunter Schafer, Kerry Washington and more.

Roach shared the announcement on his Instagram, in a post with an image reading "retired".

He wrote: "My Cup is empty….. thank you to everyone who've supported me and my career over the years. Every person that trusted me with their image, I’m so grateful for you all. If this business was just about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life but unfortunately it’s not! The politics, the lies and false narratives finally got me! You win … I’m out."

His announcement has triggered an outpouring of support and shock from figures in the industry, with Edward Enninful, the editor-in-chief of British Vogue, commenting under his post that he will "always have a home" at the publication.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell responded: "Law I won't let you !!!! We don’t quit .. strived to hard", while designer Christian Siriano wrote, "Absolutely not".

Roach had become a leading influential figure in red carpet style in the past decade, graduating to a position within the industry that allowed for access into designers' archives for standout moments. One such moment was when he dressed Kerry Washington in an archive piece from Marc Bouwer that was previously worn by Whitney Houston.

His partnership with Zendaya began when he met the star when she was just 14 and headed to Justin Bieber's Never Say Never premiere. As the star didn’t have anything to wear, Roach styled her for the event and the rest is fashion history.

He stepped in as costume designer for the film Malcolm & Marie, which Zendaya starred in and appeared as a judge on America's Next Top Model from 2016 to 2018.
