Aimee Connolly on booking her wedding in France and turning 30

If there was one sign that Aimee Connolly is one of the hardest working creators in Irish beauty, it would be that the most common DM she gets is "what multivitamins do you take?"

The business woman and mogul has gone from strength to strength in recent years, building her brand Sculpted by Aimee to even greater heights.

The founder of the award-winning makeup brand joined Jennifer Zamparelli on 2fm to talk about their Secret Santa Selector Programme, her upcoming wedding in France and doing her own makeup for the event.

Her team have been hard at work dreaming up their Secret Santa Selector Programme, she said: "Our whole concept of Christmas this year is 'the glow that you give', so we deem ourselves 'glow givers' – very modest and non-biased!"

With this in mind, they invited customers to nominate people in their lives and the Sculpted by Aimee team would look after a secret Santa gift for them. Over 17,000 submissions have already been sent in, with a new winner chosen each day, as the products grow with each passing day.

"The amount of people who want to treat someone else in their life, I think is so nice", she said.

Connolly is gearing up for a rollercoaster couple of months, as she got engaged during summer and has cracked on with planning her big day.

"We have booked a venue, we're getting married in France next year. I found the venue selection kind of tough, it was a bit like, work was really busy, it takes a lot of detail to go into it so that bit, I was a bit like, will we bother next year or will we not?

"Then once we got the venue booked after that I'm like, it'll all figure itself out.

"Gonna do my own makeup", she added nonchalantly. "A lot of people are saying, oh my god, how could you do that? I think I would stress someone out sitting in their chair. Firstly I've no patience. Couldn't sit there for an hour. I'd be b****ing, I'd be up and down like a yo-yo, so I'm just going to do my own."

Not only that, but Connolly has a milestone birthday approaching, as she turns 30 on Christmas Eve. She'll be spending it in London with her family and will spend the Christmas break unwinding.

As the owner of 100% of her business, Connolly has stayed firmly in control of the company, something she says has been massively important.

"I always say I'm a control freak and I don't mean in the sense that I can't delegate or I can't let people run with ideas, but I feel like it's been a very, very personal project since I've started this out of college to now that it definitely suits me.

"I think there's a load of pros and cons to taking investment, having people come in that have really excelled other businesses, and who knows, I might go down that one day, I might have to. But for now, I think it's really important for the culture of who we are and for the closeness of the team where everyone feels they're making decisions, they're making things happen with me.

"It takes a whole team for this to happen. It's not just Aimee and her minions!"

As for what's next in store for the entrepreneur, she hinted at everything from events in Dubai to further launch her products there, to a property space in London.
