Ireland was well represented at the 2022 BAFTA Scotland Awards last night.
Taking place at DoubleTree by Hilton in Glasgow, Scotland, the awards welcomed a star-studded guest list including Dublin's Saoirse Ronan, Monaghan woman Catriona Balfe, and Derry girl Jamie-Lee O'Donnell.
Dressed by celebrity stylist Elizabeth Saltzman, Saoirse Ronan wore a full-length golden gown from Erdem's Spring/Summer 2023 collection.
According to Vogue, the recent ready-to-wear collection was inspired by the work of restoration experts at the British Museum, Tate, the V&A, and the National Gallery. The designer reportedly took his design team to look at how they were restoring 17th-century etchings, which resulted in a series of beautiful designs with a historic touch.
Saltzman modernised Ronan's look with a bold red lip, cropped blonde waves, and a pair of strappy gold heels.
Elsewhere on the red carpet, Outlander star Caitriona Balfe wore an unusual white dress from Irish designer Simone Rocha's Spring 2023 collection.
The satin dress features layers of frills as well as some buckled harnessing straps that can be seen throughout the ready-to-wear collection, in both dresses and bubble-bomber jackets. According to the designer, the tapes can function to change the shape and length of the garments.
"This collection was very much a reaction to the last few years. It was very much harnessing an emotion that felt like this kind of powerful, feminine statement," Rocha told Vogue.
Celebrity stylist Karla Welch paired the dress with simple accessories, adding a simple black clutch, pearl earrings, and a pair of black heels.
Balancing out the simplicity of her sleek up-do, Balfe wore dramatic eye-make up and a bold red lip.
