Ed Sheeran has announced his plan to launch his own range of factor 70 suncream, entering the world of celebrity skincare in a decidedly "fun" way.

Ever the marketing savant, Sheeran plans to add to his business portfolio with a range of extra strength suncream for redheads like himself.

It'll be another reason for his Irish fans to love him, as our fair skin and ginger headed numbers are some of the most vulnerable in extreme heat and sunshine. Sheeran is betting on people trusting his knowledge, thanks to being one of these sun-adverse people himself.

Unlike the highly stylised and often conceptual skincare lines from celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Kate Moss, Sheeran said that the launch would be "for fun", adding: "You would buy sun cream if my face was on it.

"Because you'd be like 'He definitely knows what he's talking about' If you were going to a hot country and you needed Factor 70."

Given the fact that suncream has become arguably the most important product for those wanting to slow the signs of ageing, according to numerous skincare experts, creators and influencers, Sheeran could be onto something here.

Celebrities have been launching beauty and skincare lines in their droves this past year. From Hailey Bieber and her Rhode beauty line, to Stella McCartney and her eco-friendly take on skincare, it seems skincare and makeup are to celebrities was perfume was back in the early noughties.

Even Jared Leto has entered the beauty arena with Twentynine Palms, an 11-piece line that offers skincare, body care and hair care products, despite claiming, "I've never been really interested in beauty products".

Sheeran's line would be yet another string to his already impressive bow, as the singer-songwriter already owns a London pub – Bertie Blossoms in West London – an art sales company and management company.
